On March 9th, 1978, Charles Strittmatter founded C.W. Strittmatter, Inc. with two Gradalls and two backhoes, building the company from scratch. His inaugural client was Shirley Contracting, a partnership that endures to this day. By 1996, the company expanded its offerings to include excavation and demolition services. Since 1998, the second generation of the Strittmatter family has overseen the company’s operations. In 2011, Charles’s three sons—Robert, Mike, and John—purchased C.W. Strittmatter from their Father. Charles legacy continues to shape the company today with the Strittmatter generations building from what he started.

With over 43 years of experience in the construction industry, Michael Strittmatter brings exceptional leadership and extensive business management expertise to Strittmatter. He began his career at C.W. Strittmatter Inc. in 1981, working as a Fuel Truck Driver during summer breaks from college under his father’s guidance. After graduating from the University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business, Michael joined the company full-time and has been dedicated to it ever since.

Today, Mike serves as President of the company overseeing all projects and the performance of his employees.

Mike is deeply committed to the professional growth and advancement of the Strittmatter team. His extensive experience, paired with a strategic business mindset has shaped the company’s operations, opportunities, and performance. Mike has helped lay the foundation for the company’s reputation of due diligence, commitment to deadlines, all while working safe and smart.

When not working Mr. Strittmatter enjoys spending time with his wife, and two sons who have started their career as the third generation of the company.  The family are avid sports enthusiasts of the University of Maryland, and other collegiate and professional sports teams.

With over 40 years in the construction industry, John Strittmatter offers Strittmatter Companies exceptional leadership and expertise in site work and operations.  John began his career at C.W. Strittmatter in 1984 as a Fuel Truck Driver under his father’s guidance. After graduating from the University of Maryland, he joined the family business full-time and has been dedicated to it ever since.

John became Vice President in 1998 and alongside his brother, began the company’s expansion and focus to include excavation, grading, and site development.

John’s extensive experience of project management, business development and operational efficiency has played a pivotal role in the company’s success. John’s goal for the company has remained consist of researching innovation and cutting-edge technologies they can incorporate into different projects. He believes in a sustainable future and has incorporated a sustainable approach to work. Strittmatter plays a key role in maintaining the company’s strong reputation, ensuring rigorous attention to detail, a commitment to deadlines, and a focus on safety and efficiency in all operations.

Outside of work, John enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, two of whom are now part of the company’s third generation. He is a passionate sports fan and enjoys spending weekends down at the beach with family and friends.
